Granny flats are small one or two-bedroom flats with a hall kitchen. These are often allocated for elderly family members who want to remain near to their loved ones but yet require some independence. These flats are especially popular among homeowners looking for self-contained, low-cost office or workshop space close to their residences.

Because granny flats are small, you may want to consider unique home designs to provide the sense of more room. So you’ll need to do some home renovation tasks to make your granny flat a roomy area to live in. And you will attract suitable renters or surprise your relatives.

Consolidating Your Entertainment Appliances

Modern granny flat designs resemble tiny houses these days, and many additions may be added to maximize the available space.

Builders can place TVs on the wall, DVD players, PlayStation, Xboxes, and Nintendo’s. Putting all of your entertainment gadgets in one place will save you room and make it easier to get to them. Combining spaces and gadgets into one is the key to saving space in current granny flat designs.

Multifunctional Furniture Or Modular Furniture

In current granny flat designs, furniture is also taken into account while reducing space. Use space-saving furniture, such as smaller sofas and fold-out tables, rather than typical dining tables.

Modular furniture is made out of elements that can be taken apart and rearranged to fit your needs. If you buy an L-shaped modular couch. For example, you can put one section in one location and use the long portion as a comfortable chair in another.

Multifunctional furniture, on the other hand, is made up of items that may be used for several purposes. A sofa that serves as a guest bed, or a bed with extra drawers below and shelf space in the headboard, are also excellent examples.

Make Use Of Hooks And Wall Mounts

They may be placed practically anywhere, although they are most commonly found at the front door, in the kitchen, and even in the shower. However, there’s no reason they can’t be in your bedroom or elsewhere. They provide the same benefits as a typical bookshelf or benchtop while taking up less room on the floor.

Almost everything may be hung on hooks and wall-mounted shelves, including cups, kitchenware, towels, seasonings, toiletries, and even apparel. If you frequently misplace your vehicle keys or want quick, simple access to particular items, these are incredibly useful.

You may use wall-mounted shelves with bowls at the entry for your keys and other critical belongings instead of a hefty, space-sucking standard bookshelf. On the shelves, you may hang jackets, umbrellas, and even tiny pots to make your home feel cozier.

Adding Accessories To Your Kitchen

Kitchens are always packed with large appliances that take up an unnecessary amount of space. However, eliminating them isn’t an option. A kitchen wouldn’t be complete without a refrigerator, cooktop, and storage cupboards.

In your kitchen, consider putting above cabinets. These let you keep large objects where they’ll be needed the most without taking up valuable floor space. Placing stools near the kitchen counters allows people to eat while saving room that a table would take up.

Install Large Windows

Large vertical windows provide the perception of a lot larger space than a granny flat actually has. This allows more natural light to enter the area, lightening it up. While huge windows provide a well-lit atmosphere, you don’t need as many in your granny apartment.

Place them where you know the sun will be visible the most, such as during sunrise and sunset. In this manner, you may save money on power while also adding a touch to your granny apartment.

Final Thought

You can ensure that a shortage of space is never an issue again with just a few basic space-saving ideas for your modern granny flat design.
